FAQ
Why won’t my uPVC window close?
Most often it’s hinge wear, a dropped opening section, or a failed espag/gearbox causing misalignment. We diagnose the fault and repair/adjust the window.
My window is stuck open / stuck closed — can you help?
Yes — we deal with jammed mechanisms, seized handles and alignment issues to get the window operating and closing securely again.
Can you check our other windows and spot early signs of failure?
Yes — we can assess your other windows during the visit and flag anything close to failure (hinges, alignment, handles and mechanisms).
You can also do a quick pre-check yourself before we arrive:
- Open the window fully, then close it slowly and watch the gap between the frame and the opening section. If you can see a gap, feel draughts, or notice a click/shift as it closes, the hinges may be worn and could fail soon.
- If the handle feels very tight, moves in jerks, or the handle is loose at the fixing point, the mechanism and/or handle may be wearing out and is often best replaced before it jams.
Do you repair window locks, mechanisms, hinges and handles?
Yes — in most cases window hardware fails completely and the correct fix is replacement with new parts. That’s why we carry the common parts we need to replace locks, mechanisms, hinges and handles and get the window working properly again.
Do you do misted/cracked glass?
Yes, as an optional extra where relevant as part of a wider repair. We don’t take glass-only / supply-only jobs.
